Yorkshire Status: Local resident.

This species has been doing well since the turn of the century, all across the country, and it has colonised a lot of new ground in northern and midland counties. It used to be much less common, and although it was known to Porritt from several sites, there were no further records until 1984. It is now far more common and can be quite common in beech woodland where at times some quite large totals can be trapped eg 31 at Pexton Bank Wood on 17/7/2022. The distribution map reflects the availability of suitable beech woodland. There is a small second generation. These moths are smaller with different markings and can look at times rather like Maiden's Blush.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: The only recent records of this species in the County are from south of VC63, both in 1984. Previously this species had not been taken since Porritt (1983-86, 1904) when it was found mainly in VC63 but also in vice-counties 61, 62 and 64.

Recorded in 76 (38%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1857.
Last Recorded in 2023.
