Yorkshire Status: Common and fairly widespread resident.

This species is common and widespread across most of the county in a variety of habitats. It used to be absent in the north-west of Yorkshire but in recent years there has been a range expansion. This has been associated with colonisation of parts of Cumbria and Northumberland. It is often seen flying by day though it also comes readily to light.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Now recorded from all five vice-counties but not west of a line through Harrogate, Leeds and Sheffield. It is thinly spread within the boundaries given.

Recorded in 139 (70%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1883.
Last Recorded in 2023.
