Yorkshire Status: Fairly common and thinly distributed or restricted resident.

Looking at the Atlas, it tells us "the distribution of this moth has not changed significantly", but the situation is not quite a simple as that. From the comments in Sutton and Beaumont, this was not a common moth in 1989 with few locations whereas now it is met with regularly, especially in the south-eastern quarter of the county, and we usually receive between 200 and 300 records per year. There has been some gradual extension of the range in recent years though the pace has been slow. It first appeared in the Harrogate District in 2013 and is now regular. In 2023 range extension pushed as far as Saltburn, South Otteringham and Wintersett Country Park. A small second brood seems to be becoming more common.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Only previously recorded from Kilnsea and Skipwith (YNU, 1970), there have been many recent records from new localities, however this moth is still generally local and uncommon.

Recorded in 83 (42%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1880.
Last Recorded in 2023.
