Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local resident.

This attractive and very scarce species has a very scattered distribution across the country. The larvae feed on marsh cinquefoil in boggy places. Porritt was well aware of it and noted "this beautiful little species occurs freely on Thorne Waste near Goole, but has not been noticed elsewhere in the county." This population is geographically a long way from the nearest records and must have been isolated for many years. The good news is that it is still present, and increased recording effort on Thorne Moors in recent years has provided several records, though there were none in 2023. Nearly all of these are of day-flying moths though it does occasionally come to light. The maximum count is five on 30/6/2021.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: The only Yorkshire locality for this species is on Thorne Moors, near the border with Lincolnshire in VC63. It was last recorded here in 1982 (Skidmore et al., 1985) and although it is not definite that this record was in VC63 rather than VC54, there is no difference in the terrain on the two sides and a record in one probably means it is also present in the other.
