Yorkshire Status: Uncommon and thinly distributed or restricted resident.

Numbers of this woodland species have been gradually reducing for quite a long time, and this seems to be the situation over most of the country. It is rare in VC61 and in the north-west of the county, probably due to a lack of suitable woodland, though the biggest numbers have been trapped in semi-upland areas eg 18 at Grass Wood on 7/6/2013. Be aware that the central band is not always "broken" which sometimes makes identification harder.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Recorded from wooded areas in all five vice-counties but only found frequently in vice-counties 62 to 64.
