Yorkshire Status: Fairly common resident.

This species is not uncommon across the county and is often found in garden traps if currants are grown. It is also said to feed on hop, but that is of more relevance in the south of England. It is sometimes mistaken for Wormwood Pug but its wings are shorter and rounder, and the discal spot is a little larger and bolder. The white tornal spot is also usually more pronounced. The population in Yorkshire seems to be fairly healthy though numbers may have reduced a little recently. Perhaps more of us need to grow currants. It occurs in two overlapping and fairly equal broods.
