Yorkshire Status: Uncommon and very local resident.

Ash Pug and Angle-barred Pug (along with Tamarisk Pug) are now considered to be the same species. Most of our records are of the coastal form which feeds on sea buckthorn. This is common in the Spurn area. The ash-feeding form (formerly known as Ash Pug) is commonest in the western Dales however we receive few records and we are hoping it does not become a casualty of ash die-back. If you record it away from these two areas, please be careful as this moth is often misidentified. It is a very long-winged species with a straight costa. The sharply-angled cross band distal to the discal spot gives the moth its vernacular name. The scientific name innotata means "unmarked" and it certainly is a rather plain uninteresting-looking species.
