Yorkshire Status: Probably extinct

This is a declining species of heathland and moorland, the larvae feeding on broom. The only county record remains the one listed below in Sutton and Beaumont below which appears as a very isolated dot on the national distribution map. There have been no further Northumberland records this century and it seems unlikely that we will see it again in the county as there are no populations anywhere near our borders. It would need a real optimist to suggest that it might be hiding somewhere in Yorkshire.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Not recorded since Porritt (1883-86). The single Yorkshire record he reported was from Doncaster (VC63) on 14.6.1883 by George Tindall. It is of interest that this species has recently been taken for the first time in Northumberland (Dunn & Parrack, 1986).

Recorded in 1 (1%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1883.
Last Recorded in 1883.
