Yorkshire Status: Common and widespread resident.

Porritt described Pebble Prominent in 1883 as "not so common as Iron Prominent" which is not really the case now as we receive slightly more records. It is widespread in good numbers across all of the county; commonest in woodland with willows and poplars, but often coming into gardens. It occurs in two overlapping generations, the second being a little larger, and our population is healthy and stable. Counts can occasionally reach double figures.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This species now seems more widespread than N. dromedarius (Linnaeus) in some areas but this may be a reflection of trapping sites and habitat preferences rather than a true change in status. Quite frequently recorded from vice-counties 63 (but much less frequent than dromedarius (HEB)) and 64, but rather more sparse in the other three.

Recorded in 159 (80%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1883.
Last Recorded in 2023.
