Yorkshire Status: scarce and local resident.

This has always been a species of the south and south-west of the UK. Around the turn of the century it started to slowly move further north and in 2019 a moth was seen and photographed at Burley (Leeds). The following year one was found in long grass at Beningborough Hall in the south of VC62. Further records followed in the next few years from other sites, in particular several records from the Forest of Flowers rewilding site near Huby including a mating pair in 2023. It now seems established in small mumbers in Yorkshire and we are likely to see more records in future years. Most of our records are of moths flying by day, but some are of moths at light. The larvae feed on a variety of plants but seem to have a particular liking for common comfrey.
