Yorkshire Status: Common and fairly widespread resident.

"Probably generally distributed" said Porritt in 1883. It appears that not a lot has changed, and it is still reasonably widespread across Yorkshire. Nationally there has been little change, and the northern limit continues to be at the Scottish border. This is a moth of hawthorn and blackthorn hedgerows and it tends to be commonest in lowland areas. Numbers are probably fairly stable in the county. Numbers sometimes reach double figures, with a maximum of 22 at Hunmanby Gap on 20/7/2021. It is meant to be single-brooded, flying from mid-June to early August, but in recent years we have had records in September, suggestive of a small second brood. Inexperienced observers can be forgiven for thinking this little moth is a micro!

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Widely recorded and sometimes common, especially in the lowlands in the centre and south of the County.

Recorded in 135 (68%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1883.
Last Recorded in 2023.
