Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This is a mainly southern species but occasional specimens are found as far north as Lincolnshire. The first Yorkshire record was of a single specimen found at Spurn (VC61) on 29.10.1984 (BRS). Since there is no woodland, its natural habitat, it was most probably a stray.

Beaumont, 2002: There was only a single previous County record, at Spurn (VC61) in 1984. Since the early 1990s it has occurred widely in small numbers and appears to be increasing in frequency.

VC63. Wintersett Country Park, 18.3 & 13.4.1997, 16 & 23.10.1999 (PSm, PM et al.); Canklow, mid 9.1997 (RFB); West Melton, 9 & 13.4.1999, 22.4.2000 (HEB); Rossington, 10.10.1999 (RlH); Mirfield, 25.10.2000 (MST).
