Yorkshire Status: Very rare vagrant.

This species appears on the county list on the basis of a moth trapped at Kilnsea (Spurn) on 3/8/1999. This is a rare migrant and at the time of the Atlas there had been just over 60 recorded. Most of these were in eastern coastal locations though it has reached Scotland and Ireland. In 1883, Porritt mentioned a possible record which was included in A History of British Moths" by Morris in 1871, listed as "on Strensall Common near York" but added "This needs confirmation". Sutton and Beaumont point out that map 167 in MBGBI 10 shows 1-3 records from VC64 between 1835 and 1982. None of these can be traced. It is quite possible however that some of these could be correct. It was a commoner migrant back in the 19th century and there have been few modern-day records.
