Yorkshire Status: Adventive

A specimen of this moth was found barely alive by Charlie Streets on 15/2/2013 in the outer leaves of a cabbage purchased from Marks and Spencer in Halifax. The moth made a bid for freedom was was potted when it alighted on a draining board. It was sent to Harry Beaumont who dissected it, finding it to be a male Scopula minorata, a moth usually found in the south of Europe and around the Meditteranean. Larvae are said to be very polyphagous but the Brassicaceae are not mentioned as a food plant in The Geometrid Moths of Europe Vol 2. This is the first time this species has been recorded in the UK. Further details can be found in Ent. Rec. 125:62-3
