Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local migrant/wanderer.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This previously rare migrant has recently become a more frequent visitor. There was a great influx into Britain in 1983 from which several Yorkshire records came and there have been more reports since (most 1983 records are in Bretherton & Chalmers-Hunt, 1984). Dunn and Parrack (1986) report that in 1985 it was even more frequent in the North. This did not seem to be the case in Yorkshire, although several were recorded in that year.
2012 (CHF): We continue to get records of this sporadic migrant in most years. There were an unprecedented 29 records in the great migrant autumn of 2006. Many records of this species are inland.
Recorded in 69 (35%) of 200 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1961. Last Recorded in 2022. Additional Stats
