Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local migrant/wanderer.

This migrant species appears in small numbers most years and, like Vestal, is often seen in inland locations. Sometimes it fails to appear at all and at other times we can get records into double figures. The maximum is 14 records in 2010. It seems reluctant to visit the north of the county. There is no evidence that it has ever over-wintered in Yorkshire, but moths arriving in early summer will produce a second generation in autumn. It is sexually dimorphic - the sexes looking very different.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: A migrant species which only rarely reaches as far north as Yorkshire. There have been a few records since the last list (YNU, 1970), all in the centre or south of the County.
