Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local. No recent record.

Many-lined was resident in the Cambridgeshire fens where the last record was 1879. It was not seen again in the UK until 1993 and has appeared as a rather irregular migrant on many occasions since then. Almost all records have been along the south and east coasts. There have been three records in Yorkshire, two on the Spurn peninsula and one a little further north at Withernsea. The first two in 2006 coincided with several records in the south of England. The third was in 2012. It would be easy to mistake this species for Oblique Carpet. Porritt mentions one at Scarborough in his 1993 list but later said this "had better be regarded as recorded in error, until confirmed by further undoubted specimens".

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This species was included in the last list (YNU, 1970) as not having been recorded since Porritt (1883-86). Porritt later suggested in his supplement (1904), that it had better be regarded in error unless confirmation was forthcoming. Since this did not happen we cannot now include this as a definite Yorkshire species.
