Yorkshire Status: Uncommon and local resident.

This attractive species is well named. It is rarely seen in numbers and 93% of our records are of single moths. This is a moth of lowland wooded areas where the larvae feed on bramble and raspberry. It is probably not strongly attracted to light. Many records are of day-flying moths.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Widely distributed in woodland where the larvae can be found feeding on wild raspberry. Only slightly attracted to light and not generally found in large numbers.
