Yorkshire Status: Thinly distributed or restricted resident.

This species can easily be mistaken for Red-green Carpet which is a less attractive-moth and usually has a scattering of reddish-brown scales. Autumn Green Carpet is commoner in upland areas of the county but occasionally scattered records occur on the lower ground. Like Red-green Carpet, it emerges in September, and flies until November. The males do not survive the winter but the females can be seen again in spring and it is not uncommon for moths to live as long as June and sometimes longer. Nationally it has been lost from large areas of the south and east of England, and here in Yorkshire numbers have been falling in the last few years. It has certainly become less common in VC62. It may be starting to become one of the casualties of climatic change.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: An upland species which has lately become more widespread on lower ground.
