Yorkshire Status: unknown

Previous Yorkshire records of this species are considered to be suspect and it has not been admitted to the Yorkshire list. Porritt in 1904 said "first recorded from Haw Park, Wakefield by Messrs Lumb and George Wilson (The Naturalist 1884). Also taken at Barden and near Bradford by Mr W Hodgson (The Naturalist 1886) and at Everingham (J Sumner). Rutherford in 1970 said "There are no recent records and it is quite possible that early records were erroneous, the last two were in the first decade of the twentieth century: Everingham and Bolton Woods. Sutton and Beaumont pointed out a later record which had been overlooked by Rutherford. This was at Whitlow, Sheffield on 24/7/1950 by W Reid (given as 1952 in Garland 1979) but there is no reference to a specimen in Reid's diaries. They also mention that there are two specimens in the Sheldon collection in Sheffleid, but point out that many of Sheldon's records seem suspect and these must also be in doubt. They go on to say that Dunn and Parroack (1986) say it occasionally gets as far north as Durham "therefore it is possible that our records are genuine". This is a moth associated with the edges of old woodland. It is not doing well nationally. On balance, it probably did once occur in the county, but it certainly does not seem to be present now, and it is an unlikely species to recolonise.
