Yorkshire Status: Rare and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This species has been rediscovered in Yorkshire in recent years, and is now quite frequent in some areas. It is 'usually single brooded, flying for a short time in June in hay meadows and pastures' (PQW). A second brood has definitely been recorded at Muston (VC61) in 1984 (PQW). This is quite unusual for this species in Britain (AMR pers. comm.). Any small, worn pugs should be looked at carefully since it is easy to overlook this species.

2012 (CHF): Still very local in the county with most records coastal especially at Spurn where it is recorded most years. Inland we have scattered records from marshy areas with field mouse-ear. Most records are of day-flying moths but it also comes to light. We now have several records of second brood individuals. Usually fairly distinctive when fresh.
