Yorkshire Status: Fairly common resident.

From its first appearance in the county in 1990 this species has spread widely and now can be found commonly in all five vice-counties though it is still uncommon in the north west. The larvae are common on Leyland cypress (Cupressocyparis leylandii), exotic junipers and other similar species in gardens. It has now moved north through Scotland where it has merged with the Scottish form, formerly known as Edinburgh Pug. Fresh moths should be easily identifiable. It is a large Pug with well-defined cross bands, a prominent discal spot and a dark abdominal band.
