Yorkshire Status: Common and widespread resident.

This is a common and widely distributed species across the county, occurring in a variety of habitats. Like many green moths, it quickly loses its green colour, and brownish-grey moths can often fool inexperienced moth recorders. A careful look however will often reveal a few scattered green scales. Numbers are very healthy in Yorkshire and distribution and abundance have increased nationally.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Often recorded as 'frequent' in vice-counties 63 and 64 but records are scarce in the other three vice-counties. Specimens should be checked carefully to separate any C. chloerata (Mabille) but it is unwise to use superficial characters alone (AMR pers. comm.).

Recorded in 156 (78%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1857.
Last Recorded in 2023.
