Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Skinner (1984) states Yorkshire to be the northern limit of this species and certainly northern County records are very sparse. There is only one recent record from VC62 (Sleightholmedale, 27.7.1984, specimen kept (GWF)) and there is none from VC65 (though it does occur rather uncommonly in Durham, VC66 (Dunn & Parrack, 1986)). In vice-counties 61, 63 and 64, however, it is reported from many sites, being much more frequent in these than A. plagiata (Linnaeus) is in higher areas.

Argus 47, 2001-2004:

VC65. High Batts, 19.8.1984 (SPW). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD?

2012 (CHF): See comments on Treble-bar on separating these two species. Lesser Treble-bar is the commoner of the two species in the county especially in lowland areas of the south and east, for example there are 220 records on the database from Spurn compared with 12 for Treble-bar.

Recorded in 71 (36%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1926.
Last Recorded in 2022.
