Yorkshire Status: Local resident.

This is an upland species which is absent from the south and east of England. The larvae feed on rowan. It is said to be in slow long-term decline, and Yorkshire records would tend to agree with this. It may be a species which is not enjoying climatic change. More planting of rowan in appropriate upland areas might be beneficial.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Fairly well distributed in vice-counties 62 to 65 wherever rowan occurs in woodland or on moors.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 66 (33%) of 200 10k Squares.
