Yorkshire Status: Thinly distributed or restricted resident.

This lovely little moth is a woodland species, and whilst usually seen in ones and twos, can be commoner in nice old broadleaved woodland with plenty of field maple eg 16 at Hackfall Woods on 9/7/2010. It is sometimes seen away from field maple and the larvae may well feed on other tree species such as sycamore and alder. It is not doing particularly well in Yorkshire with low numbers in recent years, but has colonised some new ground eg one at Romaldkirk on 12.6.2023
