Yorkshire Status: Fairly common and fairly widespread resident.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: There are scattered records from all five vice-counties and most reports say it is frequent or common. Melanic forms such as ab. fuscata (Mosley) are prevalent in many areas.
2012 (CHF): Widespread across the county and common in the spring especially in broad-leaved woodland. Occasionally appearing before the year end, eg Knott Wood (Calderdale) 11.11.2010.
