Yorkshire Status: Rare and very local resident.

This is mostly a coastal moth in the UK. The first Yorkshire record was from Spurn in 1951. We had to wait until 1993 for the next one to appear, also at Spurn, and there were a further 11 records there between 2001 and 2012. If we had a small colony there, it seems to have disappeared as it has not been seen since. A curious inland record at Wheldrake in 2010 was followed by more in 2011. The source of these records may have been the sedum matting on the roof of the reserve base as this came from Norfolk.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: The only Yorkshire specimen of this moth was captured at Spurn (VC61) on 15 or 16 June 1951 by S. M. Jackson (YNU, 1970; Sutton & Spence, 1947a). It is normally found as far up the east coast as Lincolnshire but no other specimens have been found in our County.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 3 (2%) of 200 10k Squares.
