Yorkshire Status: Uncommon and thinly distributed or restricted resident.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Recorded from vice-counties 61 to 64 but seems to have a very patchy distribution. Whilst quite common in some low areas of VC63 and regularly recorded in parts of VC61, it seems rare elsewhere and generally seems to avoid high ground. In suburban areas it may feed on apple as much as its wild food plants (AMRH pers. comm.)
2012 (CHF): Reported from most lowland areas of the county. Numbers are stable.
Recorded in 123 (62%) of 200 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1879. Last Recorded in 2022. Additional Stats
