A specimen of this adventive species was said to have been taken in Bridlington in 1897. The specimen is in the Natural History Museum and was shown at the BENHS exhibition on 2/11/1996. This is an American species and is very similar to Striped Hawk-moth. It does however have an additional white stripe on each side of the thorax. The two species were originally classed as subspecies.
