Yorkshire Status: Fairly common but local resident.

Porritt in 1907 regarded this species as "not at all common" but listed several sites. It has never been particularly common in Yorkshire, but records have been increasing in recent years, particularly since 2010, and this has been mirrored nationally. It is a moth of open wooded and scrubby areas with willows and poplars, and it occurs over most of the county, though it is uncommon in western areas. It tends to like the lower ground. Counts can occasionally reach double figures, the maximum being 21 at Tophill Low NR on 26/7/2008

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Previously rare, this moth has become much more frequent in Yorkshire. It has now been reported as far north as East Ayton near Scarborough (VC62).

Recorded in 122 (61%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1864.
Last Recorded in 2023.
