Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local migrant/wanderer.

This rare species is resident in the Norfolk Broads. Elsewhere it is considered to be an immigrant or a wandering moth. Our first record came from near Wakefield in 1982 and there have been seven further records, mostly in VC61, but one from VC65. It is a wetland species and like all Footmen is a lichen feeder. Our records are the most northerly in the country.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This species is probably only resident in the Norfolk Broads in Britain but is occasionally taken as a vagrant elsewhere. Such a specimen was taken at Kettlethorpe, near Wakefield (VC63) on 1.8.1982 by R. Council. A fresh specimen was also taken in Lincolnshire (VC54) in the same year (Duddington & Johnson, 1983). Possibly these were both from the same dispersal movement.

Recorded in 6 (3%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1982.
Last Recorded in 2018.
