Yorkshire Status: Very rare wanderer.

Water Ermine is resident in East Anglia and part of the south coast, the larvae feeding on various water plants. We have two records. The first was at Spurn on 8/6/2022, and the second was trapped at Skidby in VC61 on 25/5/2018. These were either wandering moths from Norfolk or migrants from across the North Sea. A moth from Askham Bog in 2021 looking very like Water Ermine was dissected and proved to be a very odd White Ermine, so we must be aware of this potential pitfall.
