Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local migrant/wanderer.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This moth is a regular migrant to vice-counties 61 and 62, mostly near the coast. Occasional specimens have also been recorded from the other vice-counties. Apart from a dark specimen recorded near York (VC62) in July 1983 (AHF) most records have stated that it was the lighter coloured Continental form that has been found. It is now not possible to tell whether the York specimen was the Scottish form or just an unusually dark immigrant.

Beaumont, 2002: VC64. Malham Tarn, exceptional numbers in early August 1995, nine on 5th, three on 6th, four on 7th, two on 8th and five on 9th (DB).

Argus 54, 2007: This was the migrant story of the year. After an early moth at Easington on 22.7.2007 (MRS), a major influx took place between 22 & 31.8.2007 with records of 53 further moths across all five VCs. There are too many to list individually (see migrant report).

2012 (CHF): An occasional migrant with small numbers recorded most years in August. Larger influxes occurred in 2006 and 2007 with 37 and 41 records respectively. The 2006 influx mostly involved VC61 whereas in 2007 there were many inland records all over the county and the wave of migration bypassed Spurn.
