Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local resident.

Silvery Arches has always been a rare moth in Yorkshire. In 1883. Porritt noted a record from Edlington (Doncaster) and in 1904 said "a specimen recorded by Mr SL Mosley taken drying its wings in Greenhead Park, Huddersfield in 1897, was possibly introduced in the larva state with herbage from a distance." It was thought to be extinct in the county until two moths were trapped and photographed at Austwick Moss in the west of VC64 on 8/7/2011. The only other recent records from the north of England are from the Morecambe Bay area, which is of course not too far from Austwick Moss, and it may well have been present at this site undetected for many years, as it is infrequently trapped. Nationally it has been lost from many of its old haunts, and populations are small and fragmented. It is to be hoped that it can hang on in Yorkshire and adjacent parts of south Cumbria.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Not recorded since Porritt (1883-86, 1904). In his main list Edlington, Doncaster (VC63) was the only locality given for this species. In the supplement it was reported that a specimen had been found in Huddersfield (VC63) still drying its wings. Porritt suggested it had possibly been introduced as a larva on herbage.
