Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local resident.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Not recorded since Porritt (1883-86, 1904). In his main list Edlington, Doncaster (VC63) was the only locality given for this species. In the supplement it was reported that a specimen had been found in Huddersfield (VC63) still drying its wings. Porritt suggested it had possibly been introduced as a larva on herbage.
2012 (CHF): NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD. Two moths were trapped and photographed at Austwick Moss (VC64) on 8.7.2011. A most unexpected find. There have been no recent records of this moth from the north of England though there are old records from the Morecambe bay area and it is still possible there is a small population in this area extending into the west of VC64.
Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.
Recorded in 3 (2%) of 200 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1883. Last Recorded in 2011. Additional Stats
