Yorkshire Status: Fairly common resident.

In 1907 Porrit said that Feathered Gothic "occurs everywhere but in some localities only sparingly". It is still a fairly common species over much of the county, though we get very few records from the western half of VC63. It seems to be doing well in Yorkshire and numbers are stable. It is a moth of rough grassy areas but often comes into gardens. It is not uncommon for catches to reach double figures, the maximum being 42 at Appleton Mill Farm in VC62 on 28/8/2021. Do not mistake it for the earlier-flying Gothic. The bipectinate (feathery) antennae of the male are a good pointer.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Occasionally recorded and sometimes locally frequent. Found most often near moorland but also near the coast and on the Wolds of VC61 and lowland heaths, commons and sandy areas elsewhere in all five vice-counties.

Recorded in 132 (66%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1846.
Last Recorded in 2023.
