Yorkshire Status: Common and fairly widespread resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Recorded from all five vice-counties but not usually common.

2012 (CHF): Common and widespread across all five vice-counties with an increase in recent years. 2011 brought record numbers and 2012 seems to have brought a further increase. Big numbers can occur in broadleaved woodland in Spring, eg 357 at Ellington Banks on 23.3.2011.
