Yorkshire Status: Rare and very local migrant/wanderer.
Beaumont, 2002: VC61. Spurn, 10.6.1997 (BRS). NEW COUNTY RECORD.
2012 (CHF): Following the 1997 record this species was not seen in the county until large numbers were reported at Spurn in 2004 (13 records) and 2005 (28 records) with more further up the coast at Atwick and Muston. It was thought to be resident at Spurn but then numbers dropped to very low numbers between 2006 and 2010. In 2011 there was an increase to 12 records (all at Spurn) so perhaps it is resident again. This species seems to be doing very well in East Anglia and the south-east of England. Take care not to confuse it with Clay.
Argus 87, 2019: This species is moving slowly north and west so it is no surprise that we now have a record for VC63. We find that a lot of claimed records turn out to be Clay, so be cautious if you catch this species out of its usual area.
