Yorkshire Status: Uncommon and thinly distributed or restricted resident.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Probably quite frequent on higher moorland, there are also occasional wanderers to quite atypical habitats such as Rudston (VC61) and Leeds (VC64). There is no VC65 record but it should be present in the west of that vice-county.
Argus 47, 2001-2004: VC65. High Batts, 19.7.1992 (JCW, SPW). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.
2012 (CHF): We receive small numbers of records each year from upland areas of VC62, 63 and 64. There is surprisingly only one record from VC65 where it should be widespread on the higher ground. Three records from Haxby suggest it might be present at Strensall Common but it has not been recorded from any of our lowland heaths apart from a single record from Thorne Moors in 1962.
