Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: In the nineteenth century Porritt (1883-86) recorded this vagrant from Leeds (VC64), Pontefract (VC63) and York (VC61/62/64). The only record since was mentioned in the last list: from Sheffield (VC63) in 1965 (YNU, 1970).

Argus 52, 2006: VC65. Hutton Conyers, 25.3.2006 (CHF). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Argus 56, 2008: VC62. Haxby, 25.10.2008 (TJC). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Current status (CHF, 2011): Porritt mentioned Leeds, Pontefract and York as sites for this moth. There was one further record in Sheffield in 1965. There were no further records until single moths were taken at Spurn in 2000 and 2001, but from 2004 there has been a huge expansion to the north and west, and this species has become relatively common in the last few years apart from the north and west of the county. Recent records from the west of VC64 will have come from a similar expansion in north Lancashire.

Recorded in 106 (53%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1857.
Last Recorded in 2024.
