Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local. No recent record.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: This species has not previously been included in a Yorkshire list although there is a confirmed record from Whirlow in Sheffield (VC63) in 1955 (Garland, 1979; SPG pers. comm.). The specimen was taken by W. Reid and apparently was exhibited at several collectors meetings so the record should be reliable. Perhaps confusion over the exact site, which is near the VC57 boundary has caused it to be omitted in the past. It is a rather unusual record since this species is rarely found outside southern central and south-west England.

Current status (CHF, 2011): One previous record in 1955 which appears to be reliable. This moth started a population expansion in about 1990 and has reached the south Midlands. It is heading slowly in our direction.

Argus 78, 2016: This is the second county record, the first coming from Sheffield in 1955. Like other members of the genus, it over-winters as an adult. What was almost certainly the same moth was trapped two nights later. The record is not entirely unexpected as it has been slowly moving north over the last 20 years.

VC61. Easington, 18.4.2016 (MFS). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Recorded in 2 (1%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1955.
Last Recorded in 2016.
