Yorkshire Status: Scarce and thinly distributed or restricted resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: There have been a few more records of this local species in recent years. Still most frequently found in the south of the County but it has now been recorded in both VC62 and VC65. This must be near the northern limits of its usual range in Britain, although odd records are shown into central Scotland on map 51 in MBGBI 10.

2012 (CHF): Porritt called this species a great rarity in 1883 though his subsequent lists noted records appearing in the south of VC63. Now it is not uncommon in the south and centre of the county, reflecting the distribution of its main foodplants, field maple and beech. Numbers seem to have increased a little recently. Still uncommon in the north of the county and there are still very few records further north than Yorkshire so there has been little expansion of range since 1989.
