Yorkshire Status: Very rare and very local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Not recorded since Porritt (1883-86), when it had only been taken in Sheffield and Huddersfield (VC63). There are also two specimens labelled 'Wharncliffe Woods' in the Sheldon collection (Garland, 1979).

2012 (CHF): Last recorded in the county in 1883 but it does occur regularly in Northumberland and there has been a record from Knitsley Fell in VC66 (Durham). If this moth is to be refound in Yorkshire, Upper Teesdale would be a good place to search. There are also records to our west in south Cumbria. Although many upland species seem to be moving north with climatic change, this may not be the case with Saxon.
