Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Probably overlooked. Recorded sparsely in all five vice-counties.
2012 (CHF): Nationally this moth is local, and south of a line from the Humber to the Mersey very local indeed. Our Yorkshire populations are important. Nearly all records in the last few years have come from a small number of sites - Rudston, Scarborough, Bellflask and Hutton Conyers but at all of these it can be fairly common. It seems to stray no further than 2-300 metres from its foodplant. There are likely to be several other colonies in the county and it would be interesting to specifically target patches of butterbur in August and September.
Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.
