Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: A colony of this south-eastern species has existed in south Lincolnshire for some years (Duddington & Johnson, 1983). The record below is the first specimen to be recorded in Yorkshire and it is the most northerly in Britain so far (MBGBI 10 map 140). A single specimen on 8.9.1988 at Spurn (B. R. Spence).

Beaumont, 2002: VC63. Rossington, July 1996; Potteric Carr, 29.8.1998 (RIH); Wintersett Country Park, 26.8.1999 (PSm, PM et al). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD. VC64. Drax, 2.8.1997 (EOC). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

2012 (CHF): From a few scattered localities there has been spread all across south-east Yorkshire as far west as Leeds and up the coast as far as Teesside. Records peaked in 2009 but 2011 was a poor year with only 11 records. Most of the reed-feeding Wainscots have done well in the last ten years.

Argus 66, 2012: A slight increase and an addition to the VC65 list which is not unexpected as this moth has been slowly expanding. VC65. Bellflask (East), 5.9.2012 (BM). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Recorded in 66 (33%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1988.
Last Recorded in 2022.
