Yorkshire Status: Rare migrant.

Small Marbled has always been an extremely rare migrant, but records have increased in recent years and it is now regular on the south coast. It is not yet resident but it would not be surprising if it did take up residency in the next few years. Our first record was at Easington (Spurn) on 9/6/2005. Another larger influx in 2015 brought four moths to Yorkshire, all in VC61, and in 2019 there was another influx with three moths in VC61, as far north as Hunmanby Gap, and one in VC64 at Tadcaster. The larvae feed on fleaband and ploughman's spikenard. This is an extremely small species for a macro, and it would be easy to overlook it in the bottom of a trap.
