Yorkshire Status: Rare and local resident.

This rather local moth of lowland heaths, moors and calcareous grassland has reduced in numbers across the country. It remains somewhat elusive in Yorkshire and we receive very small numbers of records each year. All of our recent records come from VC62, mostly from sites in the east such as Fen Bog and Jugger Howe, but occasionally from Strensall Common. It has not been seen in VC61 since 2017 though it just might still occur on Allerthorpe Common. The last record from VC65 was in 2002 and from VC64 in 2000. It has not been seen in VC63 since Porritt's day. Nearly all of our records are of day-flying moths, though rarely it is seen at light.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Now recorded from vice-counties 61-63, although its main stronghold would still seem to be in VC62. This is a species which could easily be missed as it is relatively small and flies rapidly in sunlight. Another species which is recorded from the Teesdale fells in VC66 (Dunn & Parrack, 1986) although not from our side of the river.

Recorded in 35 (18%) of 200 10k Squares.
