Yorkshire Status: Very rare wanderer.

This is a hop-feeding species of south-east and southern England, and south Wales. We just have two records of wandering moths. The first was from Sheffield and was reported by Porritt in 1883. The second, at Spurn, was found dead in a cobweb in a window on 1/5/2007, and was retrieved before the spider got to it. Recent targeted surveys in the south have shown that it is not as uncommon as was once thought. It over-winters as an adult, often in garden sheds.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Not recorded since Porritt (1883-86) and then only from Sheffield (VC63). This species has declined over the whole of Britain and is now only found very locally in the South of England (Skinner, 1984).

Recorded in 2 (1%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1883.
Last Recorded in 2007.
