Pheromone lures: VES, VES+HYL, VES+TAB. Mainly on Oaks and other trees in suitable woodland where live stumps left after recent coppicing. The adult flies from late May to August and comes to lure quite readily in the afternoon.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Scarce and local in Yorkshire. This species had not been recorded since 1952 near Selby (YNU, 1970) until, in 1979, larvae were found in the south-east of VC63. Since then three more sites have been found and the first report confirmed.
