Pheromone lure: API. Areas with Common Bird's-foot Trefoil, on chalk and limestone.
Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Porritt (1983-86) only recorded this species on the east coast in VC61 and VC62. It then declined and was described by Skinner (1984) as a 'local species found in southern England as far north as Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire'. It has spread northwards again, however, and the first record since Porritt occurred in VC64 in 1973. All the new sites except Filey are inland, so the habitat preferences of this species appear to have changed over the years.
Argus 54, 2007: VC62. St. Nicholas Field LNR, York, 18.7.2007 to pheromone lure (EDC). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.
2012 (CHF): This species seems to be doing well especially in the south and east of the county. Most records are to pheromone lures though it is sometimes encountered without them.
Recorded in 33 (17%) of 200 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1883. Last Recorded in 2022. Additional Stats
